

Nathalie Foundation Cambodia projects
2017-2018, Science, Technology, Engineering Math and Art

The Villanova University teams have provided every year the skill on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to the students at the Lower Secondary School in Trapaing Chress commune, Kaun Mom district, Ratanakiri.
​
Recently, in early 2018, the Masanka organization from Belgium: two engineers, Max-Dinanga Kamina and Olivier-Kamina. They have supported STEM, English teaching, computer maintenances and repairs, technical maintenance, web designer, and fund raising.
The vegetable garden expansion project and the water project are supported by the Cambodia Association of the Church of Jesus Christ LDSC.

The CFC in the US stopped funding the schools. We are looking for new sponsors for supporting the programs for the students at the Trapaing Chress Lower Secondary School.
Except the Pre-School, the projects for the small students are still supported by the separated donor.

According to the collaboration between the Cambodian Children Fund (CCF) and Caramanico Foundation Cambodia (CFC), on May 27th 2018, the students received two projects: art training workshop for the pre-school teachers and distribution Tom shoes to the primary students. The partnership of both organizations will be started.

2015-2016, The Girls Empowerment Program (GEP)
The students at the dormitory and at school still had the breakfast. The students at dorm received rice for lunch and dinner.
The sanitation materials were provided. The vegetable garden was in progress to implement. The solar panels were still in function.
The Girls Empowerment Program (GEP) was implemented for helping 25 girls.
The English and computer classes for the students and four housing were built for the teachers who have houses far from the school.
On April 2015 the students of 8th and 9th grade had training on the Education and Gender and Leadership, for 2days.
The first National Festival on STEM at the University Phnom Penh: the students attended with their own STEM experiments booth.
The Pre-School was in the progress of developing the programs for the small students and the teachers.

2014, Preschool Construction
A first of its kind in rural Cambodia, the Foundation financed the design and construction of a three-room preschool building adjacent to the primary school. This was done in partnership with the Christ Church Day School of New York, NY who maintains an on- going interest in providing learning materials and food for the 70 students.

2014, Teacher Housing
Construction of five simple houses on the school property provides housing for teachers and their families. This is a supplement to the low salary of approximately $50/month given to them by the Ministry of Education. They are unable to afford housing with this salary, and will otherwise take other supplemental jobs.

2011, Solar Electricity
Multiple solar panels have been installed at the school and dormitories to operate lights and fans, and to enable full operation of computers. Before completion, the school did not have access to any electricity save the one panel that supplied the computers as well as the GRPS Internet.

2010, Computer and Internet Connectivity
As of 2010, the school has 10 working laptop computers. It is now possible to have computer instruction as a class. This is the only school in Ratanakiri with multiple computers.

2010, Mom's House Dormitory for Girls
This is a dormitory for 21 girls who would otherwise not be able to attend school because of long travel distances. This dormitory ensures equal access to education for girls. The majority of the girls are from ethnic minority communities, and preference is given to those students for dormitory housing.

2010, Computer and Internet Connectivity
As of 2010, the school has 10 working laptop computers. It is now possible to have computer instruction as a class. This is the only school in Ratanakiri with multiple computers.

2009, Well Construction
A new well was developed to serve the lower secondary and primary school. Previously, water was hand carried from a local stream some distance from the school.

2009, Eating Facility and Bathrooms
The eating facility houses a kitchen and outside eating space. It also functions as a multiple use space for programs and activities before and after regular school hours. This is where dormitory students prepare and eat their meals during the week.

2009, William Penn Peace House Dormitory
This five-room dormitory was made possible by the William Penn Charter School students in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as well as other donors. The dorm was completed in November 2009 and is now inhabited by 30 boys and 4 teachers. The dormitory is occupied principally by ethnic minority students, who are given
preference in selection.

2006, Four Room Lower Secondary School Building
Approximately 200 students are presently attending the Caramanico School since its construction. The grades are equivalent to 7th, 8th, and 9th grades in the USA.
